once upon a time your cat and dog was a wild animal too- so was your parrot or finch- its by far crueler to keep a bird in a cage all day than have a raccoon or whatever run around and do its thing in a loving environment
Why do people think capitivty is so bad? I’d rather live in a large area and have all my needs met than live out in the wild, where being brutally killed/eaten alive, starving to death, sucumbing to a painful disease/infection, etc. is a very real possibility, and is most likely the way I will die. Heck, a lot wild animals probably don’t even live to see their first birthday.
