Baby Jumping Spiders-Pedipalp’s Spiderlings

logo

Little phidippus audax jumping spider spiderlings. These are the spiderlings from the mating of Pedipalp and Xcaliber, my 2 audax jumping spiders that I had. I let Pedipalp go, but Xcaliber died. I heard the males don't live as long if they have mated, seems there may be some truth to that since he died about 2 months later.

Bitsy caught her bottle fly before Itsy got her's (itsy's the one that pounced in the video). Then Bitsy couldn't figure out how she was going to get her cargo up on her nest. XD 6-7-09 Update : Bitsy's first brood are 1st Instars now and moving around. I'm still waiting for my new camera lens to get some shots of the slings. Itsy's eggs have hatched as well. I'm not %100 sure, but Bitsy's 2nd nest might've hatched - looks a little bit darker in there.. Good thing I bought 24 more vials today. I'm gonna be knee-high in new spiders. XD Bites of Phidippus johnsoni are not generally harmful to humans unless you're very allergic to spiders. Never been bitten, but I imagine it's very itchy like a common sac spider.

Here's a short video of Bitsy's second egg sac the night after she passed away from a spider bite. Not even gonna bother counting until they reach 3rd or 4th instar! Okay, next egg sac!

Just one of my baby jumping spiders chillin' on a twig. Gets surprised at the beginning when a sibling darts down the side of the KK - feeding time.

This is my spider Pedipalp on my keyboard, set to some piano music. I saw a video called "hamster on a piano", and it made me think about my spider that I filmed walking on my keyboard. I actually have several videos of her on my keyboard, but this one is my favorite, so I uploaded this to youtube a while back. I decided to use the youtube editor and shorten the video and add music that was different from my original video.

I started mimicing Bitsy's threat display with the motion of my finger and she actually responded back and only fled when she knew I called her bluff. Very entertaining spiders. 6-7-09 Update : Bitsy's first brood are 1st Instars now and moving around. XD

Rescued this little guy out of the water. I had never seen them dry themselves like this. It was amazing watching him behave in the way a dog or cat does after having a bath. He tried drying himself on my hand, and when I realized what he was doing, I set him on my jeans where my knee bends so that he could use the folds in the material to dry himself a bit easier. I also found a female near his spot, videoed her also. They must have been mating or about to mate before ending up in the water.

Young but now a mature spider. When the males reveal their bright white markings, they are ready for mating just a few days after the molt. This one was filmed using a DCR-250 macro conversion lens made by Raynox.

Cute Little Jumping Spider Drinking Water-Kitty Cat

logo

This is Kitty Cat, my little jumper is drinking water and just staring at me. I filmed this using the DCR-250 macro conversion lens made by Raynox. I don't know what species of jumper this is yet.
