my pair of archispirostreptus gigas, African giant millipedes. music from life in the undergrowth filmed with the nikon d7000 in rubbish light because the lights are in the 'studio', with a 18-55mm lens so i could get close to bug herd, manual focus because of low light, and no tripod because it's broken... i need a new one. but didn't come out too bad considering. if you would like a care sheet see either: www.reptileforums.co.uk or www.easyinsects.co.uk
This amazing bug comes from Africa and looks like it's part snake and part armadillo! With more legs than you can easily count, Giant Millipedes are generally harmless to humans and make interesting and surprisingly easy to care for pets. This large breeding pair of specimens was on display at the exhibit of KenTheBugGuy.com during the Los Angeles Natural History Museum's 2010 annual insect fair. The soundtrack is "Space Horn" from the "Digital Dreaming" CD by Technician (yours truly). Complete artist discography and some free tracks can be found at technician.jcmdi.com
my new pelmatojulus excisus thanks khristian!!
This is The Yellow-Spotted Millipede, Quite an extraordinary insect because they secrete a cyanide compound in self-defense, So you better not lick your hands or put your fingers in your mouth after handling them. Else your looking into a pretty bad sickness, these bugs occur in coastal Washington, Oregon, and northern California. It ranges northward up the Pacific Coast from the vicinity of Big Sur, Monterey Co., Calif., through British Columbia, Canada, to the southernmost islands in the Alaska panhandle -- Revillegigedo (where Ketchikan is), Prince of Wales, Annette (where Metlakatla is) and Dall islands. A pretty insane insect so be on the watch for them!
here's a really boring video of a few of my pet insects!!
