My whole motive for these videos is that rats are amazing little pets and its a great starter animal for kids who love animals or just to see the difference between rats and mice or hampsters who maybe cuter but dont have the smarts.
Fred took the neighborhood squirrel things and left rats for Olive, Judy's little sister. Kids are getting their faces gnawed off, so Olive takes the rats home and keeps them for pets.

In this video I'll show you a few pointers on how to get a happy and healthy rat from a rescue, breeder or pet shop.
Another lovely rat of mine... Chelster Cheeto. He and Raneldo are my only rats. Unfortunately, they can no longer be cage mates because Chelster is too aggressive and has caused injury to Raneldo. Raneldo is fine (thankfully) and it's sad that they have to live separately as rats love the company of other rats. I have had a total of 5 domestic rats within the past 3 years. Frosty, Echin & Bwaka have passed on - RIP little buddies!
A Manhattan mom is one of a cadre of New Yorkers who keep as pets the rodents the rest of the city despises.
Cin is a young male rat who I have been trying to introduce to the joys of water. Cin is a rat who I was asked to babysit whose owner has since abandoned him. About Cin: hearthand.livejournal.com When Cin puts his forepaws into the water he is rewarded with a treat - if he can get it. The treat is either a pebble to play with (he seems to like the white pebble) or food (peas, almonds, things that don't mush when in water). This should make water something fun to play in and not something scary that Cin will want to try and leap out of during bath time. INSTRUCTIONS ON: HOW TO INTRODUCE YOUR PET RAT TO WATER are detailed in the excellent video by oPuPo: www.youtube.com This is the method I used to introduce Cin to water.
