I’m not a breeder, I rescue rats. There are so many rats needing good homes in shelters, classifieds and other organized rescues. So I take in what I can and give them a good forever home.

So, I tell the guy at the pet store I want two Male rats. He says the tank only has Male rats in it. I figure the one rat just has small nuts. A weeks later I see the one with the bigger nuts humpin the other one. Turns out one is a female. I’ve had rats before who kept producing in a single cage. It got ugly. Real ugly. If shes pregnant, how long before the babies and should I remove the male? Will the mother bite the babies heads off? I’ve seen this before. Help?!

You should name one of your next rats Velcro. I don’t mean anything by that, it just would sound funny to call a rat Velcro.

This is just as good as the first, maybe better! I love the white one with the black stripe down it’s back! Davis, is it? Are you a breeder of sorts, or do you just really love rats? I wish more people could see how lovable rats really are. Most people think they’re just nasty and disease-spreading.
